Bandana Bib Review and Giveaway - So Cool!

Tyrus In His Fantastic Bandana Bib

Baby&More was set up in 2007 as a UK distribution company focused on sourcing high quality, practical baby products designed by Mums for Mums. They can be found at www.babyandmore.co.uk Becoming a Mother is fabulous but when it comes to knowing what products you need for your baby the choices can be overwhelming.Baby&More have done the hard work for you by sourcing high quality, award winning, practical baby products that really do work!  All our products are designed by Mums for Mums, are new to market and are designed to make life that little bit easier.

The wonderful people at Baby & More sent Tyrus one of their superb products called a Bandana Wonder Bib from Mum 2 Mum. Made from 100% cotton, super-absorbent velour towelling with a nylon water resistant backing to keep babies dry.  Wonder Bibstm protect against dribble rash and eczema and are an essential purchase for infants with reflux.  Wonder Bibstm are all machine washable, dryer safe and colour fast. It can hold 1/4 cup of liquid too.

Now after having five other babies, you would think that I would have certain products that I would use with each child, well some I do (muslin cloths for burping breast fed babies is a must for me!) But when it comes to bibs, I never really found one that I could really say I was happy with, until now.
I have never really had my children in bibs, until this baby... I don't know what it is with Tyrus but he does dribble lots, something I never really encountered with any of the others, but then none of the children cut their first tooth till very late, so maybe Tyrus will get them earlier. Anyway all I seemed to keep doing was changing his top and vest, as you can imagine the never ending washing pile in this house doesn't really need any help getting bigger, so I now have a product that helps. The Bandana Bib sits high enough up his neck that the dribble doesn't get in the creases of his very cute double chin, it soaks all of the liquid up and keeps it away from his skin and  looks very cute and stylish. They come in a variety of bright, bold colours, or pastels, meaning you can add them to any outfit.

Can match with any outfit
They fasten with a popper
I love them, and wish I had purchased some as soon as Tyrus started dribbling, then I wouldn't have had quite as much washing!

Another shot but with an even bigger smile!

The Start Of It All

This time 15 years ago saw the beginning of the rest of my life...
Asa and I had been working together at the local Leisure Centre behind the bar. Asa had just finished University and I was filling in time until I began my Nurse Training in Jan 1997.
We spent the whole summer working alongside each other as good friends. When the summer season finished Asa left Norfolk and went to explore employment in Surrey. He was all set to leave, and we went out for a goodbye Night Out. It was on this evening that we realised it was more than friendship and I reallly didn't want him to leave. He postponed leaving for another day and we went out properly.
However the next day I wept a teary goodbye as he departed.
The next week was a mixure of letters(I still have them all) and telephone calls (sorry Leisure Centre phone bill).
Being the independent, mad person that I am, I went to the newsagents, picked up a copy of The Lady and set about finding myself a nannying job in Surrey....
One week later I had three interviews and I secured employment,I quit my play area job at the leisure centre, said goodbye to my mum, dad and sister  and began working for a lovely family in Esher, taking care of three boys, aged 18mths to 3 years, a live-in position, working 7am-7pm, leaving me every evening to spend with Asa.
After my three month contract finished, Asa made the decision to move back to Norfolk with me, as I was due to start my Nurse Training.
Fifteen years later, six children, a rabbit and eight chickens and here we are, I wouldn't change a thing xxx

Earth Friendly Baby Review

The purpose of earth friendly baby is to create high quality, natural products that are healthy for babies, their friends and the planet .
I was sent four products from the Earth Friendly Baby Range to review with Tyrus, however the entire family decided that they would test them too...

Bath time has never been simpler with these lovely, all-in-one body cleansers. Head and shoulders, knees and toes... whoopee! Choose from our three delightful Shampoo & Bodywashes - soothing Organic Chamomile, relaxing Organic Lavender and funtime Organic Mandarin. They have been specially created to gently cleanse Baby’s delicate hair and skin without leaving behind residue

The first product that we tried was the Mandarin Shampoo and Bodywash. We took this on holiday with us, because space is limited when you are packing for eight, so this was perfect as there was no need to take separate bubble bath/shower gel and shampoo.
It smelt good enough to eat and all of the children loved it. It was suitable for Tyrus aged 3 months all the way up to Lochlan at 11 and not one child complained of any stinging eyes or irritation. It made their hair and body smell lovely and their hair looked very shiny. This is a perfect all in one solution and I would definitely recommend it.

Lovely refreshing scents, rich foam and great cleaning all at the same time! As if that’s not enough, it leaves baby’s skin feeling very smooth, ready for mum to massage, dress and start a new day or to put to bed! In a great value, easy pouring 370ml bottle, a little goes a long way – so pour carefully!

The Chamomile Bubble Bath we used at home, and when it says a little goes along way, they are telling the truth! I thought I had only put a little drop in, however after a few minutes of the water running, the bath was full to the brim with bubbles, which the children thought was amazing and spent the next five minutes playing Bubble tag....
It left all of their skin feeling very soft and moisturised and I feel it is great value, because you really only need such a small amount to have a complete bathful of bubbles!
These body lotions are ideal to use all over baby's body, and come in aromas of soothing Organic Chamomile, relaxing Organic Lavender and fresh Organic Mandarin. They are packed full of organic extracts such as healing calendula as well as skin-beneficial angelica, red clover, elder flower and passionflower. We have also included moisturising shea butter together with lots of vitamins to make these extra special products.

We were sent the Chamomile Body Lotion and it was lovely, in fact anyone in the house that had any dry patches immediately reached for this lotion, from dry arms, to feet, to legs, not forgetting using all over baby Tyrus after his bath, this really was a family favourite. It absorbed quickly and didn't feel greasy, it has a lovely refreshing smell and is easily applied with the pump. You don't need to use very much, so another product that will last quite a long time, although probably not in this house with eight people using it!

Isn’t it always a pleasure to use a soft and thick wipe, Baby? What’s more, these wipes are 100% biodegradable so they help look after our environment. They have been made with mild ingredients including organic chamomile and calendula to gently cleanse and soothe your delicate skin. They are also unfragranced, alcohol-free and tested to be hypoallergenic. Each pack has 72 wipes.

The final product we were sent was a pack of baby wipes. As you can imagine with six children I have had my share of different baby wipes. These ones were quite surprising, although unfragranced they still had a pleasant smell to them, unlike some that are just awful.
The fact that they are biodegradable is a big bonus, and means they are much kinder to the environment than many other baby wipes, although I did expect them to be quite thin and fall apart, however I was very surprised at how thick and luxurious they felt and were not too wet, they cleaned Tyrus and Eowyn with ease.
A very pleasing packet of Baby wipes that are kind to the planet.

These products are definitely worth a try, they use natural ingredients, are not tested on animals and really do look after your skin, its a big thumbs up in this House for Earth Friendly Baby xxx

Fancy Dress Outfitters Review and Giveaway

Not too long and it will be Halloween again, I know everyone has a different opinion on this celebration, but I personally LOVE it!
My children are very fortunate that the little Close we used to live in before we moved to our rural cottage embraces Trick or Treating with great enthusiasm, they all decorate their houses and have so many sweets my children can hardly carry their pumpkin buckets, so naturally each year trying to decide what to wear is great fun, especially as I seem to need an extra one every few years!
Asa and I are no exception, his Rugby Club has a Halloween Fancy Dress Party every year, so we both need new costumes too.
But this year I do not have to worry, because I have found a fantastic website that has EVERYTHING...
Fancy Dress Outfitters have an enormous range of Fancy Dress Outfits, for every occasion.
I was very fortunate that the lovely people at Fancy Dress Outfitters have allowed Asa and I to pick a Halloween Fancy Dress Costume each to wear to this years Rugby Halloween Party.
So we very excitedly set about trying to choose one each. After many hours of deliberation (there really are are just so many to choose from), it was a very hard decision, we both decided on a wonderful costume, Asa chose a Devil outfit and I opted for a Witch. Both costumes were a complete outfit, meaning there isn't any need to purchase any extras, which is what I have found when shopping for costumes before.
The delivery was super fast and the costumes are AMAZING...

These are the pictures from the Website, but for the pictures of Asa and I in them, you will just have to wait until after the Party on 29th October ....

But whilst you wait in anticipation for our photos, I have a fabulous giveaway for you.
The wonderful people at Fancy Dress Outfitters have very kindly donated this fabulous Cinder Witch Outfit for me to give away. It consists of the Dress, Hat and Tights, it is available in sizes 3-4yrs, 4-6 yrs and 7-9yrs.

So to win this great prize for your little witch:

Popblast's mission is to develop an alternative, safe, credible and fun pop music experience, that will have a positive impact on children’s lives.

Bliss Softening Socks Are My Best Friend EVER

Key Features & Benefits
• hydrates hardened hoofs with a self-activating gel lining
• immediately softens tired treads and lasts for up to 50 uses
• softens, smoothes, and pampers with olive oil, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E
• makes an excellent gift!

You'll get a 'kick' out of this pair of toe de-toughing, sole-smoothing, hardened heel-helping softening socks. They'll leave feet feathery soft and spotlight-ready in 20 minutes!

I was very kindly sent a pair of these rather fun looking socks, and they are FANTASTIC...

Now I don't know about any of you, but I have never had a problem with my feet before, until this pregnancy, after giving birth to Tyrus I began to notice that my feet were really rough and had actuallly started to crack, something I had never experienced before and I certainly do not want it to continue - it hurts!

When I took these socks out of the packet they felt like a handful of jelly, I peeled them apart and carefully placed them on my feet, they felt so weird, when I walked around in them it felt as if I was walking on something squidgy...

They are a very lovely blue colour, but when I went to remove them I was rather embarrased and made a mental note to get the carpets cleaned, they were not quite so bright blue on the bottom! However you can handwash them very carefully to get rid of the carpet dirt...

But my feet felt SO good, they really did soften my feet and I have not had any cracks since starting to wear them, and if I notice that my feet are getting dry (I can't remember to moisturise them EVERY day, I have six children to get ready before me!) I just pop them on my feet for a little while and they are as smooth as Tyrus's skin once again.
These would be a perfect present for any hard working mummy, or someone special, they really are a marvellous product that I shall be forever indebted to, now that I have soft feet again.
Thankyou Bliss Softening Socks, I shall love you forever xx

Fab Effex review

The girls were kindly sent a Fab Effex kit to review, when being matched up with Spinmaster Toys and Blog Match

Both girls were extremely excited to be chosen to test out this brand, as they had both showed an interest when seeing the adverts on television.

When it arrived, we opened the parcel to find that we had been sent a Dress Up doll making kit, which was the perfect kit for my two daughters, as Xene has already shown a keen interest in fashion design and Neva just loves Art and Craft in general.

As the girls are aged 8 and 13, I was able to leave them to it and see what developed.
Both girls had great fun creating different designs and outfits. They looked at the enclosed leaflet for some ideas and then used the principles but with their own colour scheme.

Both girls said it was easy to work with and was great fun, the only negative that we found was that if you left the dolls out on the side with the clothes on, and it was sunny, the material and waxy backing stuck to the cardboard doll, however if you are making 3D effects or models, then this wouldn't be a problem.
They found the large pieces of material quite hard to cut into small shapes, although my very sharp craft scissors worked fine.
It is a very versatile material and can be used for a number of uses. Dress up dolls have certainly moved on since I was little, the only thin we used to have was little bits of card that we folded over to hold the clothes in place!
I would definitely recommend the Fab Effex, and there are many different kits available, so can be bought for most ages and both boys and girls.
I have a feeling some more kits will be on the Christmas List.

Our Wedding Anniversary xxx

This time ten years ago Asa and I got married. Its hard to believe that ten years later we have four more children!
The wedding itself was lovely, memorable, fun but at times very hard. We made the decision to get married when Lochlan was just 17 months old, he was not yet walking, so Asa carried him to the church in a backpack, followed down the road by his Best man and Five Ushers...
The morning for me whizzed by in a mix of hairderssers, make up and amusing Xene aged 3 at the same time getting her and myself ready.
I am not one for having my photo taken, but I allowed it this once, and in fact I was very relaxed, with no nerves, other than hoping both children would behave in the church.
When the car arrived to take my mum and bridesmaids to the church, my dad and I sat chatting at the house, it is a moment I will always remember.
The car then showed up for us and we drove to the wonderful St Andrews Church in Gorleston-on-Sea. I am not usually known for my time keeping, but on that day I was actually early!
The service was wonderful and my father-in-law kept little Lochie happy with some sweets he had stored in his Top Hat!
After the endless photographs Asa and I travelled to a beautiful park to have some more photos taken, just the two of us.
Then on to the Wedding Reception with very funny speeches, a three course meal and a fantastic five tier wedding cake courtesy of my dad x
The evening reception flew by in no time, the children eventually settled in bed at midnight, leaving Asa and I to party for the remaining one hour.
I love you so very much Asa Morrison and you are truly my soul mate xxx

KiddyBalm Review - So Many Uses

Kiddy Balm's fresh, but delicate aroma is especially created for children and babies over 3 months, it is easy to apply and not messy, being readily absorbed into the skin.  It is gentle enough for use on even the most sensitive skin. For fast and effective relief from nasal congestion, skin irritations, heat rash, insect bites, stings and so much more!  It is a natural, paraben and toxin FREE balm.
An all natural product containing:   Eucalyptus  Camphor  and Menthol  I was very kindly sent this little wonder pot to review. It has a lovely smell and really does have many uses. Its first job was to cool Xenes shaving rash, as she had picked up a blunt razor, as we have all done at some time in our lives! She was complaining of it hurting, so I thought I would give it a try, she said that it did help and made it feel much better.
Next to test drive the Balm was Kaide who decided against mummy's advice to go out and play on the swings in bare feet and stood on a Bumble Bee, it took the sting away for the initial pain, and then I moved onto my usual cure toothpaste, for anyone that hasn't tried it...
Eowyn had a very snuffly nose, so again I applied the KiddyBalm and this really helped.
It can also be used when travelling on an aeroplane as it helps hugely with the air cabin pressure/congestion that is sometimes hard for little ones to tolerate - I am afraid I cannot let you know about that one, unless I win the lottery or a wonderful PR company decides they would like a mad family of eight to test drive a family holiday (someone has to try new places out surely ?!)
I have also been told by the good people at Slade & Ottewill that if rubbed onto the soles of my feet at bedtime, it leads to a wonderful nights sleep, hmmm a full nights sleep, don't think I can remember one of those since 1997......
For more information and to purchase KiddyBalm visit www.sando.me.uk
They can also be followed on twitter @kiddybalm

That Will Teach Me !

Lochlan was invited out to Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park on Sunday for one of his best friends birthday. He had vsited there previously this season, so had obtained a discount voucher to gain entry for £12.25.
They had all decided that they would also buy lunch there, because they didn't want to carry a packed lunch around when going on the rides, which was fine. So I gave Lochlan a £20 note with instruction that I would like some change...
When we arrived at the Theme Park his friend's mum very kindly paid for them all to go in as it was her daughter's birthday. I only had the £20 note, so Lochlan was given clear instructions to return with some change.
When I returned home I told Asa what had happened, that he had been left with that amount of money, Asa looked at me and laughed, saying that he would not come home with any money, I said very confidently that of course he would return home with money....
On collecting Lochlan at the end of the day, Asa asked him did he have any money left, which he replied "Yes dad, but I am young, carefree and incapable of taking responsibility for my actions!"
Lochlan had indeed returned with some change, so i technically was correct, apart from he only had £1.36 left...,.

Sea Bands Review and Giveaway.

Don't let your life's journeys be spoilt by the onset of nausea and vomiting; alleviate motion sickness and enjoy journeys with your children or enjoy your pregnancy by relieving your morning sickness by using Sea-Bands.
Sea-Band is a knitted elasticated wrist band, which operates by applying pressure on the Nei Kuan acupressure point on each wrist by means of a plastic stud. Because the bands do not use drugs, they do not cause any of the side effects associated with anti-nausea drugs and can be worn on each wrist whenever you feel nauseous. They are suitable for adults and children.

We were sent both adult and child bands to review. I must admit I had heard of these but didn't really think that they would work if I am honest. I am an OK traveller to start with, until I start the job of map reading or reading to the children and then I start to feel awful, so I thought why not ?
And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, within 20  minutes of wearing them that awful feeling of nausea went away, however I was still not convinced until my daughter Neva had given the kids ones a go. She is always complaining of feeling sick when in the car and so I put the cute little bracelets as Eowyn called them on her wrists, without making too much fuss, and sure enough I never heard another word about feeling sick on the entire journey.
I now wish that I had invested in pair for the first few weeks of pregnancy, it may have made my life a whole lot easier!

SEA BANDS GIVEAWAY.

If you are suffering from Morning Sickness, or your child suffers from travel sickness then do not fear, I have four pairs of Sea Bands to give away, two adult and two child.

Happy 6th Birthday Kaide

Two hours after birth

This time six years ago I was an extremely large, six day overdue mummy, waiting for the arrival of our new baby boy.
He was due on 10th September, but he obviously decided he didn't want to share his birthday with his Auntie Karen, so he stayed put.
On 16th September 2005 Xene and Lochlan's Primary school had just added a new reception classroom, so we went along for the opening, which involved lots of photos for the local papers, cups of tea and cakes! We also planted daffodils in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care, you can imagine how delicate I looked sitting on the floor digging holes for the children to put in their bulbs-very attractive NOT...
As I had put the last bulb in the ground I felt the all too familiar twinges of early labour, at which point the headmistress quickly excused my children and we went home, telephoned my parents and when they arrived went to the hospital, only to be told after three hours of walking around the hospital grounds that it wasn't established labour and to go home and see what happens.
We sent my parents home and carried on with the evening, went to bed, got up at 3.30am had a bath to ease the pain, crawled out of the bath and told Asa that the pain wasn't easing...
Telephoned my mum and dad to come back and headed off to hospital.
The birthing ball and Gas and Air became my best friends in the whole wide world and at 8.41am with a total labour of 3 hours 43 minutes Kaide Ronald Peter Morrison entered the world still within his Amniotic Sac which was amazing to see, our second boy weighing 7lb 14oz - our heaviest baby.
I cannot believe that it all happened six years ago, it really does seem like yesterday, so a big,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAIDE, WE LOVE YOU LOTS XXXXXXXX

From This

To This

Happy 30th Birthday Postman Pat!

It’s official – everyone’s favourite postie, Postman Pat, celebrates 30 years of delivery adventure today. As the longest running animated TV series on the BBC, Postman Pat has delighted audiences for three decades and will be celebrating his birthday in style this autumn!

News of a ‘special delivery’ from Pat! The limited edition ‘Happy Birthday Pat’ DVD will be available from 12th September from all retailers. The DVD includes eight special episodes with more than three hours of fun plus a free limited edition party CD with 15 tracks to sing along to  -  guaranteed to get all Pat’s fans in the party mood!
It features 8 great episodes.
1.      Postman Pat’s Great Big Party
2.      Postman Pat Takes The Bus
3.      Postman Pat & The Toy Soldiers
4.      Postman Pat & The Tuba
5.      Postman Pat & The Greendale Rocket
6.      Postman Pat & The Barometer
7.      Postman Pat Clowns Around
8.      Postman Pat’s Pirate Treasure

Can you believe that Postman Pat is 30! It only seems like yesterday that I was watching as a child, oh dear that must mean I am getting old too.
All of the children have at some time or another sat down and watched Postman Pat with me, over the years and Eowyn is no exception. She happily sat and watched the lovely Jess the cat and the jolly postman, she even commented that he didn't look like our postman, which is probably a good thing!
When I put the DVD on, I could hear Xene and Lochlan singing away to the theme tune, so they obviously haven't forgotten it...
Both Kaide and Neva came into the lounge and sat down for a few episodes.
The only down side is that when Eowyn hears the postvan, (yes our road is a long country one, so we have a van, which did make it easier for her to understand than a walking postman) she eagerly looks out of the window to try and see the black and white cat!!
A wonderful collection of stories that will keep children and adults entertained for a long while yet. Although I would recommend only a few epsiodes at a time otherwise you have that theme tune stuck in your head for weeks. The songs on the CD are also likely to get stuck up there too....
A good family DVD that will still be relevant in the many years to come.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY POSTMAN PAT XXX

Water Baby Review and Giveaway

WaterBaby is the brain child of father to be Benjamin Ridgway. When Ben and his wife Anna decided that they wanted to start a family they instantly recognised the importance of taking a regular supply of folic acid. Despite such good intentions during the early stages of pregnancy, the discomfort of swallowing traditional folic acid tablets, eating before every tablet and fitting the routine into her busy lifestyle resulted in it becoming increasingly difficult to honor this commitment. This worried Anna as she was concerned that any supplements she managed to take to promote the health of her developing baby were not being effectively absorbed into her bloodstream, and made her wonder if there was a better and more palatable solution available for her
Together, they created the nutritious WaterBaby formula; enriched with the RDA folic acid, plus calcium, zinc and vitamins B6 and B12.

I was kindly sent some bottles to review, don't panic I am not pregnant again, although I did have to reassure Asa when the box arrived, but it is also great for mummies breastfeeding.
I don't know what I was expecting when the Water Baby drink arrived, however I was not expecting such a lovely flavoured drink. The citrus taste is really fresh and the bottle is cool and funky. It is great to know that this yummy drink is providing key elements to make a healthy baby and without that awful little tablet that got stuck on my tongue every single day of the first twelve weeks of pregnancy.
I suffered with morning sickness with pretty much every pregnancy, though not severe, but enough to not want to consume large amounts of food and I would have welcomed a refreshing drink such as this one.
Not only that but also fuzzy brain, you know when you turn from quite an intelligent human being to suddenly not even remembering your own name, so any hope of remembering to take a tiny, itty bitty folic acid tablet every day becomes the biggest task in the world, well, now you don't have to because this drink actually has the folic acid in it, as well as other essential vitamins that all help in that mammoth task of growing a little person.
The drink is also great for breastfeeding mums and I don't know about all of you, but I am so thirsty when I feed Tyrus and always need a drink.

I would definitely recommend this product to all of the pregnant ladies out there and for all those lovely ladies considering the pitter patter of tiny feet.
To find out more about Waterbaby visit -http://www.mywaterbaby.com/
