#WIN Fortnum and Masons Hamper and talk about Pigs!

The World’s Most Popular Pigs

Pigs! At the moment Tyrus is completely and utterly obsessed with Pigs, it started with the obvious, one Miss Peppa Pig, but has since grown from there. Every time Peppa comes on the TV his little face lights up and if it is an episode he knows, he strats to giggle even before the funny part comes on. For whatever reason, perhaps it’s their cute little noses or their docile simplicity or maybe it’s their disregard for personal hygiene… whatever it is, we just love pigs. We’ve written stories about them, made films featuring them and have even turned them into a child saving holder in the form of Piggy banks. Although the ones now look a little different to the two that my sister managed to save up for! We just love pigs and here are some the world’s favourites.
Porky Pig
We owe Porky quite a debt. Without this lovely anthropomorphic mammal this list would almost certainly not be possible (and wouldn’t that be a shame), for Porky was one of the first talking pigs to ever make it to our screens. He was born in Warner Brother’s Studios over 70 years ago. This downtrodden, stuttering, diffident little character could really be described as the King, or at least some kind of chief, of the Pigs.
Miss Piggy
If there is to be a Queen of the Pigs (a coveted title despite the, er, title) then surely Jim Henson’s most strong-willed creation would win hands down, unless you ask any two year old, in which case I think Peppa could give her a run for her money! Piggy (as she is affectionately, known by the more self-effacing figure of Kermit the Frog) was initially a minor character on the Muppet Show but pretty soon she became one of its more central figures.
Babe
A rare non-anthropomorphic entry on the list, Babe taught us all that we could be whatever we wanted. Labels were just that, they didn’t define us dammit! If we wanted to be a doctor or a footballer or even a sheepdog, of course we could. Or at least that’s what we might have thought after Babe’s adventures on Hoggett’s Farm. (This makes me chuckle as it is my sister's married name)Or we would have just laughed at the funny mice. Such silly, silly mice.
Piglet
The timorous and often terrified best friend of Winnie the Pooh surely deserves a place on the list, if only because we couldn’t stand to tell him he didn’t make the cut. Piglet appeared in the very first A. A. Milne Pooh book (Winnie the Pooh, 1926) but was almost omitted from the Disney movies. Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was the first major Pooh-related release and Piglet was not scheduled to be in it. He was to be replaced by the more all-American seeming Gopher. In a mid-60s version of people power, fans of the books protested and Piglet appeared in the next Winnie the Pooh adventure: Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968).

Pig Goes Pop Review and Giveaway

My children adore any kind of game to play, so they were incredibly excited to be given the chance to review Pig Goes Pop, in fact Kaide had it on his Christmas list, but Father Christmas had forgotten it!

Here is what is being said about Pig Goes Pop :
The Pig Goes Pop games is delightfully compact and easy to play in those frustratingly confined spaces – and everything packs away inside the pig, so you can pop him in your carrying bag when you embark.  All kids have to do is feed the Pig his burgers and pump up his swelling tummy WITHOUT bursting his coat open! On the roll of the colourful dice, each player feeds this friendly hog a purple, red, yellow or green hamburger, pushing his cheery head down the number of times shown on the burger.

Remember, this Pig is a greedy fella and although he can fit more than quite a few mouthfuls into his ever-bulging tummy, it won’t be long (although no-one knows how long) before his coat can no longer take the strain… and to everyone’s amazement and rapturous squealing delight, this little Pig goes POP! If that happens on your turn, you’re out – till the next round.  If not, you’re still in the game.  Just keep on going until he bursts at the seams. For a new game, just rewind his curly tail… and the next round commences.

The game advertises from age 4, but Eowyn aged three adores it too, and finds it incredibly easy to play. The fact that you can pack it all inside is fantastic and means that I don't find too many burgers around the house. It is very simple to play and all of the children had great fun playing, they even got nanny playing too!
It is extremely funny watching the anticipation on their faces as he gets bigger and bigger and most times the actual Pop makes one of them jump!!
For stockists visit www.drumondpark.com or call 01506 855577

The wonderful people at Drumond Park have kindly given me a Pig Goes Pop game to give to one lucky person, details of how to enter are below.

Bras 4 Mums Review and Giveaway.

I can remember (just!) when I was pregnant for the first time and I had decided that I would definitely be breastfeeding, my lovely sister in law had given birth eight months previously, so she passed on many lovely baby items, and some things for me, loads and loads of Nursing Bras in all sorts of sizes and some very handy Nightdresses with buttons for easy feeding.
I have to admit I took one look at the large pile of Bras and thought I would never need half of them, but how wrong could I be....
It is quite amazing how the size and shape of your breasts can change so much. I wish someone had told me how much I would leak too (but that's another story...)

If only there had been a service like Bras 4 Mums....

bras4mums was set up by Tracey-Jane Hughes when she was sold a nursing bra that fitted one week, but not the next, despite being fitted by a 'qualified' bra fitter. After researching bra fitting for pregnancy and for breastfeeding, T-J trained at De Montfort University, and was also a volunteer NCT bra fitter and trainer.
bras4mums offer a personal bra fitting service via their home bra fitting service & telephone or email advice with trained and experienced bra fitters. The website is brilliant and has everything you need for breastfeeding, including Bras, Briefs, nightwear, swimwear, slings and some fantastic accessories that would have been very gratefully received the first time round.

Now, as an accomplished breastfeeding mummy, doing it for the sixth time was not an issue, although I have to admit, some of my breastfeeding wear was getting a little worn.

The wonderful Bras 4 Mums sent me a pair of Nursing Pyjamas to try out....
To be honest I have never understood a mothers need to go on the school run in her pyjamas, however, after putting on my
Hot Milk Calm Rebellion Pyjamas I could quite easily understand why they would do this!
They are lovely, so comfortable and they make me feel quite sexy, which any mother who is constantly covered in milk will know is quite an unusual occurence!
The great thing about these pjs are that they can be worn whilst pregnant, as they are very low fitting, a problem I had with some maternity PJs was they stretched too far and had a tendancy to fall down after I had given birth....
The built-in support in the top is excellent for keeping everything in place, and makes me feel well supported.

The range of nightwear available on the Bras 4 Mums site is great, and I shall definitely be hinting at my darling husband for another pair on my Christmas List this year.
They have a great facebook page which has some great offers and lots of advice available, they really are a friendly bunch.

In fact, they are so friendly, they have given me a £30 voucher to spend on the site as a prize, to be in with a chance of winning, just do the following:
~ Have you breastfed successfully, do you have any tips that would help another mum who is considering breastfeeding, if so comment below.
