Leave bowls of water on radiators if you have them on high to help keep moisture in the air, this will help a sore throat which is often irritated further by dry air.

ReplyDeleteI love Olbas for children and even use it myself when I have a cold, I found if I put a few drops on a tissue and pop it in the pillow case it helps my son to sleep.

ReplyDeleteDrink lots of fluids, especially fruit squashes and lemonade to help keep you hydrated. Great ways to relieve a sore throat include sucking on ice cubes, drinking hot lemon juice and honey and also gargling with a mixture of warm water with a quarter teaspoon of salt

Traditional bowl of hot water with methol and a towel over your head. Not for the kids but a hot toddy also works wonders for me x

ReplyDeleteGargle with warm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort: Gargle at least once each hour with 1 tsp (5 g) of salt dissolved in 8 fl oz (240 mL) of warm water. If you have postnasal drip, gargle often to prevent more throat irritation.

ReplyDeletechop some garlic and put in in a handkerchief , crush it inside and tie it to the side of childs bed, not only relieve stuffy nose but also is antibacterial x
ReplyDeleteBuy some menthol crystals for about £2 from pharmacy and steam with them! Best ever for a blocked nose!
ReplyDeleteWarm drink. As warmth and moisture can be soothing for a sore throat. Whilst it can help to loosen mucous, and clear a "snotty nose" (as it loosens discharge, which can then be wiped away with a clean paper handkerchief :- Then dispose of handkerchief in the bin).

Lots of warm drinks - honey & lemon if possible, keep moisture levels up around your nose - slap some lip balm around your nostrils to stop them getting sore and dispose of the lip balm when your cold has finished!
