Toyologist Review - Hex Bug Nano Hive

Our fifth review for Toys R Us is the fabulous Hex Bug Nano Hive, the boys LOVE it!

We had only ever encountered Hex Bugs on the television until now....

The Hive is amazing, so simple, yet so effective, the boys have had immense fun moving the little pieces around, creating new obstacles for the Hex Bug to contend with.

I love the way that the Hex Bug can go down the slope, and Tyrus loves the Hex Bug even more, especiallty when he pinches it and sits there with it vibrating on his new teeth that are coming through!!

The entire structure folds up into a neat little carry case, which is good because there are a lot of little pieces to clip into place.

The boys are obviously impressed as they have added Hex Bugs to their Christmas Lists.

The only negative that we have found is the actual Hex Bug eats batteries like they are going out of fashion, luckily I stocked up on them as they take the same ones as the Scarab.

This looks a fantastic book, I really can't wait to read it and see how the `experts' answer the questions!!

Toyologist Review - Galt Friendship Braids

Our fourth product to review was a brightly coloured box, labelled Friendship Braids, which is perfect for Neva aged 9, she adores making things and always has little clubs/groups with her friends, so she had a great idea that she would make friendship bracelets for all of her friends and her younger sister too.

The instruction booklet that comes with it, is very easy to understand and gives step by step instructions on how to make the bracelets.
There are a number of different items that you can make, and I am sure Neva will work her way through them all.

For now, she has made one for herself, one for her younger sister and three for her friends that she has made in their favourite colours and has carefully put them all in envelopes to give to them at school.

The entire kit costs less than £7.00 which I think is excellent value for money and would be perfect to buy for any little girl's birthday or christmas.

With over 60 metres of brightly coloured thread, this kit will keep them in bracelets and necklaces for quite a while!!

Ravensburger James Rizzi 1000pc Puzzle Review

I have been very fortunate to become part of the Ravensburger Puzzle Club which means I get to actually sit down and complete a puzzle.

This is my first puzzle that I have been sent to review, when I sat down to begin, it felt very nostalgic, I can remember sitting with my nan as a young child, she always used to have a puzzle on the go, and when I went to visit, I would help her to fit the pieces.

This jigsaw is a 1000 piece puzzle by James Rizzi, depicting Times Square.

I have found there are two types of puzzle people, the random, put pieces together type - definitely my husband and the organised, split into outside and inner, which applies to me!!

The first thing I noticed was how well made the pieces are, they are very strong and not at all flimsy, meaning the puzzle fits together very easily, each piece is individual, so there is no mixing up where pieces go. I sorted all of the outer edge first and assembled that, the actual fitting together of the outer edge and the border was quite easy for this puzzle as there were distinct areas that could be grouped together.

Once this was achieved I then had to set to work on the people and the buildings!! Which wasn't as easy, the older children would walk past and find another piece that fitted, so it really was a joint effort.

The entire puzzle took us about four evenings, once the youngest children had gone to bed, I really enjoyed this bright, vibrant puzzle and I am looking forward to the next puzzle to review, I have definitley rekindled my love of jigsaw puzzles, so thank you Ravensburger xxx
